Enterprise RTView Demos

Introduction
Except where noted, all demos can be run in three ways, as an application, or via rich or thin client in a browser. If your Enterprise RTView package features additional data sources, further Demos are located in the Data Sources section. NOTE: Some data sources do not have corresponding demos.



Before You Begin

Start the Demo Server

Rich Client and Thin Client Demos only.
There are rich and thin client demos already installed on the Demo Server.

On Windows:
From the Windows Start Menu:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Start Demo Server

On UNIX:
In an initialized command window:
 
    type run_startup_demoserver


Data Source Demo
This demo illustrates how to use the Enterprise RTView data source. Refer to the Data Sources section of this documentation for further demonstrations specifically designed to illustrate your data source.

NOTE: You may not be licensed to run all Enterprise RTView data sources.

1. Start the Simulators
Start the simulators for each data source you will be using. Refer to the Data Sources section of this documentation for information on how to start a data simulation for your data source.

2. Run Demos - Application, Rich Client Browser or Thin Client Browser

Application Demo

On Windows:
From the Windows Start Menu:
1. To view the demo:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Data Sources-->Run Application-->View Data Sources
2. To edit the demo:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Data Sources-->Run Application-->Edit Data Sources Displays
On UNIX:
1. In an initialized terminal window  go to the demos/dstutorial directory.

2. To view the demo:
 
    type run_viewer
3. To edit the demo:
 
    type run_builder


Rich Client Browser Demo
Start the Demo Server if it is not running.

On Windows:
From the Windows Start Menu:
1. Start the Data Server.
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Data Sources-->Run Rich Client-->Data Server
2. In the Data Server dialog:
 
    select Start Serving Data
3. To view the demo:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Data Sources-->Run Rich Client-->View Data Source Data Server Applet
On UNIX:
1. In an initialized command window  go to the demos/dstutorial directory.

2. Start the Data Server.
 
    type run_dataserver -socket
3.  In the Data Server dialog:
 
    select Start Serving Data
4. Open a browser and navigate to http://localhost:8068/dstutorial_applet.



Thin Client Browser Demo
Start the Demo Server if it is not running.

On Windows:
From the Windows Start Menu:
1. Start the Display Server:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Data Sources-->Run Thin Client-->Display Server
2. To view the demo:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Data Sources-->Run Thin Client-->View Data Sources with Display Server
On UNIX:
1. In an initialized command window  go to the demos/dstutorial directory.

2. Start the Display Server:
 
    type run_displayserver
3. Open a browser and navigate to http://localhost:8068/dstutorial.

 


 

ElectroSphere Demo
The ElecroSphere demo, a Business Information Application, allows you to navigate through multiple types of business data.

NOTE: This demo requires use of the SQL data source and only runs on Windows with Microsoft Access. Your version of Enterprise RTView may not be licensed to run the SQL data source.

1. Run Demos - Application, Rich Client Browser or Thin Client Browser

Application Demo

On Windows:
From the Windows Start Menu:
1. To view the demo:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->ElectroSphere-->Run Application--> View ElectroSphere
2. To edit the demo:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->ElectroSphere-->Run Application--> Edit ElectroSphere Displays


Rich Client Browser Demo
Start the Demo Server if it is not running.

On Windows:
From the Windows Start Menu:
1. Start the Data Server.
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->ElectroSphere-->Run Rich Client-->Data Server
2. In the Data Server dialog:
 
    select Start Serving Data
3. To view the demo:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->ElectroSphere-->Run Rich Client-->View Data Source Data Server Applet


Thin Client Browser Demo
Start the Demo Server if it is not running.

On Windows:
From the Windows Start Menu:
1. Start the Display Server:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->ElectroSphere-->Run Thin Client-->Display Server
2. To view the demo:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->ElectroSphere-->Run Thin Client-->View Data Sources with Display Server

 

 


 

Features Demo
Presents an overview of the many features of Enterprise RTView.

1. Run Demos - Application, Rich Client Browser or Thin Client Browser

Application Demo

On Windows:
From the Windows Start Menu:
1. Start the XML Simulator.
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Features>XML Simulator
2. To view the demo:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Features-->View Features
3. To edit the demo:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Features-->Edit Features Displays
On UNIX:
1. In an initialized command window  go to the demos/features directory.

2. Start the simulator:
 
    type run_simdata
3. To view the demo:
 
    type run_viewer
4. To edit the demo:

Rich Client Browser Demo

    select Start Serving Data
3. To view the demo:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Features-->Run Rich Client-->View Data Source Data Server Applet
On UNIX:
1. In an initialized command window  go to the demos/features directory.

2. Start the simulator:
 
    type run_simdata
3. Start the Data Server.
 
    type run_dataserver -socket
4.  In the Data Server dialog:
 
    select Start Serving Data
5. Open a browser and navigate to http://localhost:8068/features_applet.


Thin Client Browser Demo
Start the Demo Server if it is not running.

On Windows:
From the Windows Start Menu:
1. Start the XML Simulator.
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Features>XML Simulator
2. Start the Display Server:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Features-->Run Thin Client-->Display Server

    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Features-->Run Thin Client-->View Data Sources with Display Server
On UNIX:
1. In an initialized command window  go to the demos/features directory.

2. Start the simulator:
 
    type run_simdata
3. Start the Display Server:
 
    type run_displayserver
4. Open a browser and navigate to http://localhost:8068/features.

 


 

Alert Demo
Presents an overview of Enterprise RTView Alert functionality.  

1. Run Demos - Application, Rich Client Browser or Thin Client Browser

Application Demo

On Windows:
From the Windows Start Menu:
1. Start the XML Simulator.
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Alert Demo-->XML Simulator
2. To view the demo:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Alert Demo-->Run Application-->View Alert Demo
3. To edit the demo:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Alert Demo-->Run Application-->Edit Alert Demo Displays
On UNIX:
1. In an initialized command window  go to the demos/alertdemo directory.

2. Start the simulator:
 
    type run_simdata
3. To view the demo:
 
    type run_viewer
4. To edit the demo:
 
    type run_builder


Rich Client Browser Demo
Start the Demo Server if it is not running.

On Windows:
From the Windows Start Menu:
1. Start the XML Simulator.
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Alert Demo-->XML Simulator
2.  Start the Data Server.
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Alert Demo-->Run Rich Client-->Data Server
2. In the Data Server dialog:
 
    select Start Serving Data
3. To view the demo:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Alert Demo-->Run Rich Client-->View Alert Demo Data Server Applet
On UNIX:
1. In an initialized command window  go to the demos/alertdemo directory.

2. Start the simulator:
 
    type run_simdata
3. Start the Data Server.
 
    type run_dataserver -socket
4.  In the Data Server dialog:
 
    select Start Serving Data
5. Open a browser and navigate to http://localhost:8068/alertdemo_applet.


Thin Client Browser Demo
Start the Demo Server if it is not running.

On Windows:
From the Windows Start Menu:
1. Start the XML Simulator.
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Alert Demo-->XML Simulator
2. Start the Display Server:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Alert Demo-->Run Thin Client-->Display Server
3. To view the demo:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Alert Demo-->Run Thin Client-->View Alert Demo with Display Server
On UNIX:
1. In an initialized command window  go to the demos/alertdemo directory.

2. Start the simulator:
 
    type run_simdata
3. Start the Display Server:
 
    type run_displayserver
4. Open a browser and navigate to http://localhost:8068/alertdemo.

 


 

Geothermal Demo
A real-time operational application that allows you to drill down to various levels of detail.

1. Run Demos - Application, Rich Client Browser or Thin Client Browser

Application Demo
On Windows:
From the Windows Start Menu:
1. Start the XML Simulator.
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Geothermal>XML Simulator
2. To view the demo:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Geothermal-->View Geothermal
3. To edit the demo:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Geothermal-->Edit Geothermal Displays
On UNIX:
1. In an initialized command window  go to the demos/geothermal directory.

2. Start the simulator:
 
    type run_simdata
3. To view the demo:
 
    type run_viewer
4. To edit the demo:
 
    type run_builder


Rich Client Browser Demo
Start the Demo Server if it is not running.

On Windows:
From the Windows Start Menu:
1. Start the XML Simulator.
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Geothermal>XML Simulator
2.  Start the Data Server.
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Geothermal-->Run Rich Client-->Start Data Server
2. In the Data Server dialog:
 
    select Start Serving Data
3. To view the demo:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Geothermal-->Run Rich Client-->View Geothermal Applet
On UNIX:
1. In an initialized command window  go to the demos/geothermal directory.

2. Start the simulator:
 
    type run_simdata
3. Start the Data Server.
 
    type run_dataserver -socket
4.  In the Data Server dialog:
 
    select Start Serving Data
5. Open a browser and navigate to http://localhost:8068/geothermal_applet.

Thin Client Browser Demo
Start the Demo Server if it is not running.

On Windows:
From the Windows Start Menu:
1. Start the XML Simulator.
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Geothermal>XML Simulator
2. Start the Display Server:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Geothermal-->Run Thin Client-->Display Server
3. To view the demo:
 
    Start-->Programs-->Enterprise RTView-->Demos-->Geothermal-->Run Thin Client-->View Geothermal with Display Server
On UNIX:
1. In an initialized command window  go to the demos/geothermal directory.

2. Start the simulator:
 
    type run_simdata
3. Start the Display Server:
 
    type run_displayserver
4. Open a browser and navigate to http://localhost:8068/geothermal/panels.jsp.
