Advanced Historian

NOTE: You may not be licensed to run all Enterprise RTView features and/or data sources.

The standard Historian allows you to archive time stamped data to a relational database from any data source. When the Historian is used for an extended period of time, it becomes necessary to manage the size of the accumulated data by periodically backing up or deleting archived data. The Advanced Historian feature allows you to automatically perform these tasks by defining rules about data compaction via aggregation or displacement.

The Advanced Historian is an optional licensed feature that (when activated) provides additional Cache properties to describe your data management preferences. It is then possible to determine, for each table, whether to perform data compaction. If compaction via aggregation is chosen, then you can specify the granularity of time stamped data and the methods used to perform compaction per metric (i.e. sum, average, count, min or max).

As the Historian begins to archive real-time data, data compaction is automatically performed as a background task based on the Cache property definitions you specified.

The Advanced Historian feature can be used on existing Historian data collections, allowing you to manage your existing historical data.
