System Requirements

 

Platforms Supported

  • IBM AIX 6.1 (64 bit)
  • HP-UX 11 (IA-64/Itanium)
  • Red Hat (x86 & x86-64)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.x
  • Microsoft Windows
  • Windows Server 2003 (x86-64)
  • Windows Server 2008 (x86-64)
  • Windows XP (x86, x86-64)
  • Windows Vista Business Edition (x86, x86-64)
  • Windows 7 (x86, x86-64)

    NOTE: Other platforms running a standard Sun supported JVM version 1.5 or 1.6 may also work, but are not guaranteed.
     

Hardware

Java Heap Size
Each RTView service has default Java heap sizes which may be increased depending on the size of the system being monitored. The following heap sizes are the minimum required:

  • Desktop Viewer – 512MB
  • RTView Historian – 512MB
  • RTView Display Server – 512MB
  • RTView Data Server – 768MB

Processor
2.8 gigahertz (GHz) or higher processor speed recommended.


RAM
2 gigabytes (GB) of RAM or higher recommended.

Disk Space
30 megabytes (MB) of disk space for installation.
 


Java

  • Java 1.5 or Java 1.6, Java 1.6 recommended.
     


Flash
Desktop and Web applications both require:

  • Adobe® Flash Player 9.0 or greater.
     


Browser
Web application is tested with the following:

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer
  • Mozilla Firefox.

NOTE: Other browsers with Java Script enabled should also work, but are not guaranteed.
 


Servlet Container
An application server is required to run the browser version (for example, Tomcat 6.0 or greater).

NOTE: Any production quality application server may be used.
 


Database

Evaluation environments can use the provided HSQLDB.

Production environments can use the following JDBC or ODBC enabled relational databases:

  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Oracle
  • MySQL
  • IBM DB2
