SL-GMS Demos Real-Time Location System Application Demo

This Real-Time Location System application demo (viewed as a Java applet) was constructed using SL-GMS J/Developer.

Buttons at the top control zooming and panning.
Select the checkboxes at the bottom to view different containers.
Right click for a context sensitive pop-up menu of shortcuts.
Left click on icons to display a dynamic pop-up dialogs.

Instructions:

This applet represents a collection of icons moving over an arbitrary floor plan. .

It is possible to zoom and pan to various locations: Select ' Zoom In' and click on a selected area of the floor plan. Hold down the SHIFT key and click to zoom out. Select 'Pan' and then drag the map holding down the left mouse button. (Note: It is not possible to 'Pan' at 100% visibility.) Click the right mouse button as a shortcut to toggle zoom/pan controls or terminate the operation.

Left click on an icon to invoke a dynamic pop-up dialog. Click 'Deselect All' to turn off the dialogs.

Use the checkboxes at the bottom to select a restricted view of the activities of specific types of containers.

Development Notes:

This applet is ~54K, including the floor plan, icons, and all interactive behaviors.

The symbols are GMS models and are dynamically instantiated from DATA files. The DATA files contain records describing each icon and its attributes.

This demo could easily be extended to develop a more complete Real-Time Location System application.
